Naive people

Gender studies tutorial today:
Teacher:In fashion shoots and cat walks black people are being put in leopard print and animal print predominantly. They are more likely to be put in those kind of clothes then a white person.
Sweet, magazine reader gal:maybe they are just making those choices because those prints looks better on certain races.
What I am thinking:YOU ARE NAIVE! they are RACISTS sweetie!
What I say:To put African Americans in animals prints (as a trend) is to suggest that they are more animalistic, it is a Darwinian idea of being less developed.
(Something to keep in mind which I didn't say was that, even the idea of "race" is a man made term which is false - there are no races- races went along with a structure of white superiority. Race exists as a concept but is constructed).
